GOAL OR RESOLUTION?

HELLO FROM MY STUDIO

Have you ever set a goal, and didn't reach it?  Last year, mine was to publish my art newsletter once a month.  That did not happen.  I recently read Gretchen Rubin's book, "The Happiness Project", in which she stated instead of setting goals, she is making resolutions.  She felt that once one reaches a goal, one has to set a new one, but a resolution is more manageable, more ongoing.  That made sense to me.  Less pressure always makes sense to me.

Instead of setting the goal of creating a blog, I resolved to create one, and not set specific times, at least not at first, for writing and publishing.  That is why, the other day when the weather was glorious, I went to the pool, sat in lounge chair, and read a book without one iota of guilt.  Today, the weather is rainy, cloudy, and humid; a perfect day for staying in and working on my blog.

While I haven't written a newsletter or a blog for months, I have been busy with my art.  I participated in a group craft show in April.  Knowing I would have no place to hang paintings, I created several small ones I could display on a table.  These are on my website, www.anitadellal.com, in the category, "Beyond Geometry."

I had a great time working with the intense colors of acrylics for a while.  After this show, though, I went back to working with larger canvases and oil paints as I find they flow more easily.  Work I did, as I had to create several large paintings for an upcoming show in September and October.  More on that to follow.
